DAILY PRAYER FOCUS

On a drive through Sedouikech in the month of Ramadan, you may see very little to either concern or excite you. Some shops are open, others have pulled their garage doors down for the day, men sit lazily on their scooters looking tired and moving slowly between work and home. A glance out your car window into the face of a passerby may reveal almost nothing. So much here is unseen. So much of the spiritual realities are invisible to our eyes — much like one of the city’s tourist destinations. The “Jemaa Louta”, or “Underground Mosque” is a fairly unremarkable structure. From above, there are two gentle white mounds and an unmarked entrance leading down under the earth to two ancient rooms used for worship. Some rumors claim it was a church before it was a mosque, others say it was used for dark spiritual practices before Islam came. We may never know the truth, but it is a good reminder that much of the spiritual realities in this place are invisible, underground, unseen. Today, please pray with us against the dark spiritual forces and strongholds on this island.

We also invite you to pray for our Lord of Hosts to increase the many ways He pursues His people that we often don’t see — dreams of Him in the night, visions of Him beside hospital beds, and all the invisible ways He appears to the beloved but blinded people here.

For the Many Still in Darkness

The seed on the path are those who hear, but then the devil comes and steals the word from their hearts so that they won’t believe and be saved

For the Few, if any, that Have Seen the Light

Psa 91:1-6
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day.

_{Pray for the believers on the island, firstly that God would be their refuge and their fortress and that they’d fear no evil and that they will stand against any evil in prayer especially.}

For the few taking, (or who will take) the Light into the Darkness

2 Cor 10:4-6
“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

_{Pray that those that have been sent to this island can lead the battle in demolishing strongholds and their disciples too!}

DAILY PRAYING FOR A MOVEMENT

In 2 Kings 6, Elisha and his servant wake up to find they have been surrounded by an enemy army who has come to capture him. Gehazi, the servant, is of course afraid as he looks out at the circle of chariots and horses, and as he cries out to Elisha, he hears the famous line “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” After Elisha prays, the Lord opens Gehazi’s eyes to see the blazing chariots and horses made out of fire filling the hills behind the enemy. God ends up making the enemy army blind and of course saving Elisha and Gehazi. As we pray for a movement, much of this is unseen to our normal human eyes. We have to trust what we read in the Word that there are invisible battles going on, invisible armies of angels, and that in some mysterious way, God invites our prayers to be used in this unseen but very real warfare. The movements we have seen in recent history have begun with a movement of prayer. Today, as we pray for a movement on the island of Djerba, pray that the real enemy and his dark forces would be defeated and sent away. Pray for victories in the unseen world and trust God that He is working even when we don’t see things with our eyes.
