**City of the Day: Ubari, Libya**

Population: ~35 000 (estimated in 2009) ; Tuareg-Amazigh oasis town in south-western Libya. Capital of the Fezzan region

DAILY PRAYER FOCUS

Jesus said “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” While we of course believe this, there are many situations where it is tempting to underestimate His involvement. Why does He allow war and injustice? In areas that have been plagued by violence for years, is He still at work?

Ubari is one of these places. After the fall of the Gaddafi, major tribal conflict marked the city as two unreached Berber peoples, the Tuareg and the Tebu fought each other for control of the land. This came after both of these same people groups were finally “free” after enduring much violence as they were promised a pathway to citizenship if they fought in the army under the old regime. While there is a ceasefire in place today, war has shaped the city in significant ways. Is God really working here?

YES…

In recent years, news of how God has moved among the Tuareg has emerged and how God has brought a few THOUSAND into His kingdom! One such a story is of a young Tuareg man who came to faith while living in the West. Upon his return to his homeland, he discovered some of his family members were also following Jesus and actually had been for a long time without him realizing it! God has been working in mighty ways even in the midst of war.

For the Many Still in Darkness

Isa 56:6-7
“And the foreigners who join themselves to the LORD, to minister to him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be his servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath and does not profane it, and holds fast my covenant— these I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.”

_{Lord God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, it has always been Your plan to bring in the nations. Ever since You sought out Adam and Eve in the garden, You’ve been working out your plan of salvation for all nations. Thank you that this promise still stands for the Tuareg. Even though we’ve seen some come, we ask for more to come to You!}

Pray that followers of the Prince on Peace would be peacemakers in this town and that there would be lasting peace and unity between these two people groups.

DAILY PRAYING FOR A MOVEMENT

While we would certainly never pray for war or injustice, we have seen time and again how the Lord brings good out of even the most tragic and horrible times. In fact, many movements of people coming to Him in the M world have come out of major conflict. While we urge to you to pray fervently to the Prince of Peace for lasting peace and protection in war-torn areas, we also cry out in the midst of conflict and sadness for people to run into His arms.

Let’s also spend time thanking Him for all the work He is ALWAYS doing. What good news to hear of so many in His family amongst this special people!
